DISPERSAL ORDER

We will be using enhanced powers to tackle crime in Coventry city centre this evening.

From 6pm on Friday (10 September) until 6pm on Sunday (12 September), a Section 34 dispersal order will be in place for the city centre, Far Gosford Street and parts of Hillfields.

These powers allow officers to direct individuals to leave the area to prevent or reduce anti-social behaviour, harassment or disorder, as well as robbery.

People who are told to leave and then return can be arrested.

The dispersal order has been put in place following a firearms discharge in the early hours of 13 September.

You will see an enhanced police presence in the city over the next two days as officers go about their business.

Robbery and anti-social behaviour are key priorities for the City Centre team, particularly in parts of Hillfields.

We are continuing to work with businesses and the local authority to tackle these issues and keep residents and visitors to Coventry safe.
